With the election round the corner, you could expect the republicans and democrats to be in battle mode, but with Superstorm Sandy battering the US truces seem to have been made, with Romney supporter Gov. Chris Christie thanking Obama for his support.
“I have to say, the administration, the president himself, and FEMA Administrator Craig Fugate have been outstanding with us so far,” the New Jersey governor said on Good Morning America.
Christie said that he had spoken with the president yesterday evening about organising a Major Disaster Declaration for the Garden State (pictured above as a man surveys Manhattan from Hoboken, NJ), to organise and provide funds for recovery efforts in wake of Sandy’s destruction.
“He [Obama] worked on that last night with me,” Christie said.
“I want to thank the President personally for his personal attention to this.”
Superstorm Sandy, which is as big as the entire continent of Europe, made landfall last night and wreaked havoc across the US’s eastern seaboard.
The race for the White House is to conclude with the Presidential election next Tuesday, November 6.
