Lewis Hamilton took over as championship leader in the 2017 season with a superb win in Italy.

The weekend had begun in awful conditions for the Mercedes driver, but that didn’t stop him from taking a record 69th pole position to go ahead on the all-time list of Michael Schumacher.

Although the Italian crowd were wanting a Ferrari win, Hamilton stole the show with a near perfect drive and as comfortable a 6th grand prix win of the season, Mercedes could get from their British rider.

Hamilton with his Mercedes team-mate, Valtteri Bottas in 2nd, made it a fantastic weekend for the team in Monza.

For Ferrari, it was a bad day all-round, with championship leader at the start, Sebastian Vettel, having to face a hard fight all race to make 3rd spot and claw some points back on Hamilton.

The next grand prix is in Singapore.
