Calling all engineers, architects and construction workers, if you’re qualified there’s plenty of work available, says Techstaff’s MATT CHRISTENSEN and Bridge Consulting’s DEBBIE DAVIS.
Are there many skilled labour jobs available in Australia?
Yes, the industries that we operate in continue to grow at a rapid rate and there are many opportunities for skilled workers in Australia.
What type of positions do you recruit for?
Accounting and finance, administration, call centre and customer service, human resources, sales and marketing
and scientific and technical. We recruit for all levels, from graduates through to senior leaders in the above disciplines.
What kind of people and skills are you looking for?
We look for people who have the technical and existing educational skills for the role. We also recognise the need to find people who are hard working, have great communication and teamwork abilities.
How should someone go about finding work in this field?
It is always best to register with a recruitment consultancy. Most temporary and contract roles are listed with agencies – Bridge Consulting and Techstaff have jobs available with some of Australia’s key clients. This means that we are able to assist you in finding your preferred job in the location of your choice. By going to a recruiter that specialises in your field, you can save time and access roles that are not necessarily available to the general public.
Do you have work available throughout Australia?
Both of our brands have work available across Australia. We work hard to find jobs that suit both your travel and lifestyle whilst you’re in Australia. However, many of the available jobs we have on offer are based in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane. We have office locations around Australia, providing ease of contact and flexibility for travellers.
How long are the work placements?
Both of our brands have the flexibility to offer work placements that suit most people. We have temporary or contract positions that last from one day through to two years. For the Working Holiday Maker, most of our work will be between three and six months, but there are options for contract extension for the right candidate.
What is the average rate of pay for skilled labour positions?
Our roles range right from entry level work through to management and executive roles. Most clients will pay above award rates depending on the nature of the role, responsibilities and candidates’ experience. To find out more about what you can earn, we advise you to contact one of our recruitment consultants.
What are the advantages of signing up with you?
We try to work closely with each and every one of our people to make sure that they find the right job that meets their expectations. From salary, duration of position, casual or full-time work, both of our brands have the capabilities to meet individual needs. Our consultants have the knowledge and experience to understand your requirements and therefore can find you the right positions.
As we are a national organisation, we can work with people who are travelling from state to state to find that next placement, without having to register with another agency and start the job search process all over again. Professional support, candidate services and benefits are available to all our temps and contractors, and we provide social networks for travellers. We also give you the opportunity to participate in professional development and training, including access to online computer training and up-to-date OH&S training.
Are there any sponsorship opportunities?
As a pre-approved business sponsor, we are generally able to provide you with the option to stay and work in Australia for an extended period of time.
