Australian actor Sam Worthington has reportedly been arrested for fighting in America and had to be subdued with pepper spray.

The star of Avatar and Clash Of The Titans was at a restaurant called Vortex in Atlanta when he was refused entrance for being too drunk, entertainment website TMZ has reported.

An argument then ensued because he didn't have the ID required to get inside the club.

Worthington is in Atlanta shooting the movie Ten, which co-stars Arnold Schwarzenegger. TMZ cited a police report which claimed a witness told police that Worthington had become disorderly.

The 35-year-old allegedly pushed the doorman twice and the doorman responded by pepper spraying him and putting him in cuffs until police arrived.

It's believed the incident was captured on surveillance video. Worthington was charged with disorderly conduct, TMZ said.
